About the series: "[re]construction explores the idea of re-purposing and the use of photographs as material rather than just the end product. This work is a culmination of a week long residency at VALET Gallery where I brought in older photographic prints that I made during undergrad and used them solely as material stripping away any previous concepts I associated with them. I began by drawing on top of the photos and soon began to cut them up, intentionally destroying the original image. My thought process was to create new artwork out of my old art while going against the common idea of photo preservation. Upon pinning the ruined pieces on to the wall I began playing with twodimensional and three-dimensional forms turning these original flat surfaces into a sculptural form."
